Friday 11 September

Check-in
Midday-7pm

Ciao! Come meet us at Fondazione Le Monacelle – an ancient convent down a secret side street – to get your wristband and welcome pack. We’ll help you explore this uniquely beautiful city.

Garden party
5-7pm

Warm up drinks with friends old and new in the cloistered garden at Fondazione Monacelle. Or head up to the high terrace for a special aperitivo moment, with astonishing sunset views over the entire city. Aperitivo sold as an add-on.

Terrace party
7pm-midnight

The weekend starts here. Step out onto Monacelle’s atmospheric terrace, in the shadow of the Romanesque cathedral, to dance into the warm night. With DJs spinning deep cuts and all-time disco classics under twinkling Materan mirror balls.

Dress code: Cinema Paradisco. Think golden era Italian style; shimmering possibilities; movie stars on their night off.

After hours
Midnight-2am

Head over to Area 8 – a nearby bar, restaurant and cultural hub – to mingle with the Matera locals until the small hours. Open to all.

Saturday 12 September

Classes
Throughout the day

Learn the secrets of traditional Italian cookery; take an art class against the backdrop of an ancient fresco; or just warm up with some yoga in the sunshine. Classes will be available at Fondazione Monacelle. Sold as add-ons; book on arrival at the venue.

Tours
Throughout the day

Matera is a cinematic dream, rising out of ancient rock. It’s a city that deserves to be explored and understood. Sign up to a tour to discover its hidden depths. Tours offered by local partners. Free for ticket holders. Spots must be reserved.

Detour discotalk
2pm

Why is disco so important? And do Italians really do it better? Come celebrate disco heritage and vinyl culture at this special panel talk at Fondazione Le Monacelle, featuring some renowned international selectors. Followed by relaxed back-to-back DJ sets on the terrace until 5pm.

Ancient music experience
5pm

Head to the one-of-a-kind MOYSEION – a cross between a hotel and a living museum – to hear what life was like during the Magna Graecia period of Matera’s rich history via the sounds of ancient instruments. Free for ticket holders. Places are strictly limited and must be reserved.

Aperitivo
5-7pm

Another chance to experience the perfect aperitivo moment, with sunset views on the high terrace at Fondazione Le Monacelle. Sold as an add-on.

Feast
7-10pm

Head to Area 8 for a taste of Italian classics, from tasty cichetti snacks to regional pastas and rich tiramisu, served buffet style. Sold as an add-on.

Disco silenzio
9pm-late

Follow us down the labyrinthine passages of Fondazione Monacelle to discover a silent disco with a difference – an all-night party beneath the hallowed arches of this ancient convent. Headphones on, and it’s disco hedonism. Headphones off and you’re hearing the echoes of centuries of pious footsteps. With two rooms covering everything from rare Italo Disco to modern dancefloor heaters.

Dress code: Chiaroscuro. Because there’s no light without dark. Think spectacular sparkles, sultry black velvet or somewhere in between.

Throughout the day

More opportunities to hone your skills, from cooking like a nonna to painting like an old master. Sold as add-ons; book on arrival at the venue.

Pool time
10am-5pm

On the northern edge of the city, Alvino Relais is home to a spectacular palm-fringed pool, perfect for a slow afternoon of recuperation. We are working with the hotel to make a limited number of passes available to Detour guests, with options for eating, drinking and spa treatments. The hotel is around a 30-minute walk, or 10 minutes by taxi, from the other venues. Pool access sold as an add-on.

Pizza piazza with Crosta Mollica
4-6pm

Non per tutti – it means “not for everyone”. It’s the motto of Crosta Mollica, whose Collezione Romana pizzas (inspired by different regions of Italy) represent the best use of the finest ingredients. Luckily, these delicious slices of pizza heaven are for you, as Crosta Mollica are bringing their pizza van to serve Detour ticketholders ahead of the Sunday night finale. Finale

6pm-midnight

A closing extravaganza at Fondazione Le Monacelle, with live performances and DJs spinning disco classics. A last chance to dance like everyone is watching.

Detour Discotheque brings together renowned international selectors and top Italian talent, with more names to be announced.

The Reflex

The king of the re-edit, The Reflex has earned a devoted following for his ability to uncover hidden magic in classic disco, funk and soul records. Admired by everyone from Nile Rodgers to Honey Dijon, he remains one of the most respected figures in contemporary disco culture.

Sunni D

Daniel (aka Sunni D) has quickly established himself as a disco superstar, known for his epic digs and sense of fun behind the decks. There's a reason he's resident at two of the world's biggest disco nights: Disco Disco and Don't F**k With Disco. One to watch.

Donna Gibson

Raised on a diet of soul, disco and pop 45s as part of the Gibson Brothers family, Paris-based Donna has spent two decades hunting down records from every corner of the globe. Her vinyl sets move effortlessly between tropical boogie, disco and Afro sounds.

Kashmere (live)

The prince of disco-funk, and heir apparent to the late great Pino D’Angio, Kashmere might just be the grooviest man in Italy. His live show is a call back to the golden era of Italo cool, packed with songs you'll be humming all the way back home.

Claudia C

A leading light of the Italian disco renaissance, Claudia C is a DJ, record collector and curator whose exceptional taste and deep knowledge of her country’s musical heritage make for rich and magical sets.

Joss (Talking Drums)

One-third of the beloved disco crew Talking Drums, famous for their wonky re-edits, Joss is also a Detour Discotheque regular who somehow always knows what the crowd wants to hear. His sets always contain a few glorious curveballs.

Suka Meneri

Born in Malaysia and now based in London, Suka Meneri is a DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist with a deep love of disco, soul and funk. Her uplifting sets weave together rare grooves, boogie and house with infectious energy.

Delonte Rivers

A resident at Brilliant Corners and one of London's most respected selectors, Delonte Rivers has built a devoted following through his Everybody Loves To Boogie YouTube channel, where his genre-blending sets have attracted hundreds of thousands of views. 

Jonny Ensall

Detour Discotheque's man main also happens to be a demon behind the decks, who often sets the event on fire (not literally, that's his worst nightmare) with a blend of disco groovers, euphoric anthems and house classics.
