Strategic Partnerships – Detour Discotheque

Detour Discotheque thrives on partnerships and collaborations. Whether it’s venues, sponsors, tourism boards, hotels or interesting local collaborators, the events only happen because of the people and organisations we work with along the way.

We’re looking for someone to help develop and manage these relationships. The role is all about clearly communicating what Detour Discotheque is about, identifying good opportunities and building partnerships that feel natural, creative and mutually beneficial.

This is a freelance role that can be managed remotely, though there will be opportunities to attend and be part of the events themselves.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential sponsors, brand partners and collaborators

  • Researching venues, destinations and organisations that could host or support future events

  • Drafting partnership proposals, sponsorship decks and outreach emails

  • Building and maintaining a pipeline of partnership opportunities

  • Liaising with venues, tourism boards, brands and other collaborators

  • Supporting funding or cultural partnership applications where relevant

The role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable reaching out to new people. You should be a clear communicator with good instincts for partnerships that make sense.

You must have some experience working in partnerships, sponsorships or event or venue coordination and management.

Where partnerships you originate turn into something substantial, there will also be opportunities to share in that success.

This is a freelance, project-based role rather than a permanent position. The scope of the work can be flexible depending on the right person, and fees will be agreed individually based on experience and the partnerships activity involved, typically structured around a day rate or monthly arrangement.

If you’re interested please email your CV and a short note to hello@detourdisco.com with the role in the subject. Please note, we may not be able to respond to all emails.

Event Manager – Detour Discotheque

Detour Discotheque events are carefully designed but also wonderfully chaotic things. Each edition involves venues, production teams, performers, volunteers and suppliers all coming together in unusual places to create something memorable for our guests.

We’re looking for an Event Manager who can take responsibility for the practical delivery of these events. The role is about making sure everything runs smoothly – from planning and logistics through to coordinating the event on the ground.

This is a freelance role that can largely be managed remotely during the planning phase, with on-site responsibility during event build and delivery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with key suppliers including production teams, venues, security and other contractors

  • Creating and managing the event plan, schedules and operational timelines

  • Overseeing logistics such as staffing, volunteers, transport planning and site operations

  • Managing ticketing, guest lists, wristbanding and audience flow on site

  • Ensuring risk assessments, permits and event compliance requirements are in place

  • Acting as the operational lead during the event itself, solving problems and keeping everything running smoothly

This role would suit someone with experience delivering cultural events, festivals or live productions. You should be organised, calm under pressure and happy to be hands-on when needed – whether that’s coordinating suppliers, solving last-minute issues or occasionally rolling up your sleeves to help get things over the line.

Working on Detour Discotheque events also means being part of something special – unusual locations, great music and a small team bringing it all together.

This is a freelance role focused around the planning and delivery of specific events. The exact scope and time commitment will depend on the project, and fees will be agreed individually based on experience, typically structured around a day rate or a short-term project arrangement.

If you’re interested please email your CV and a short note to hello@detourdisco.com with the role in the subject. Please note, we may not be able to respond to all emails.

Event Styling & Set Dressing – Detour Discotheque

Detour Discotheque events are as much about atmosphere as they are about music. Banners, posters, balloons, improvised signage and small visual details all help transform unusual spaces into temporary discotheques.

We’re looking for someone with a practical, creative eye who can help bring that atmosphere to life. The role is focused on the physical dressing of the space – installing materials, arranging visual elements and finding simple, imaginative ways to make venues feel special.

This is a small freelance role suited to someone who enjoys making things and solving practical problems. Much of the planning can happen remotely, with hands-on involvement during event build.

Responsibilities include:

  • Installing banners, posters, decorations and other visual elements around the venue

  • Helping plan how spaces will be dressed and how materials will be installed

  • Working out practical details such as fixtures, fastenings and materials

  • Contributing ideas for simple, low-cost ways to create atmosphere

  • Coordinating with the production team to ensure styling works alongside sound and lighting

  • Assisting with set-up and pack-down of visual elements during the event

This role would suit someone with a creative, hands-on mindset – whether from events, theatre, art, set design or simply a love of making things. It’s a small project, but a great opportunity to help shape the look and feel of a unique event.

This is a limited freelance role connected to the preparation and build of individual events. The number of days involved will vary depending on the project, with fees agreed in advance and typically structured around a day rate.

If you’re interested please email your CV and a short note to hello@detourdisco.com with the role in the subject. Please note, we may not be able to respond to all emails.
